Last week, representatives from the U.S. Women's Health Alliance (USWHA) traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with lawmakers and advocate for critical policy reforms. Their mission: to push for stronger enforcement of existing laws and the removal of obstacles that threaten the viability of independent medical practices across the country.

We are especially grateful to Representatives Greg Murphy, MD, and James Comer for their leadership and steadfast commitment to addressing the unsustainable reimbursement landscape that is forcing many private practices to close their doors. Their advocacy is invaluable, and their support makes a meaningful difference.

Independent practices are a foundational part of our healthcare system. Yet, the number of physicians able to remain in private practice is steadily shrinking. We believe there are achievable, bipartisan solutions to help reverse this alarming trend, but those solutions require immediate attention and decisive action.

Every patient deserves access to high-quality, physician-led, affordable care. USWHA remains firmly committed to advocating for policies that protect and strengthen private practice—ensuring these essential care models not only endure but thrive.
